Faire is an online wholesale marketplace that connects independent brands with retail shops. Instead of attending trade shows or cold-calling stores, brands list their products, and retailers browse, order, and reorder through the platform.
Faire makes wholesale easier on both sides. Eligible retailers can order on net 60 payment terms and get free returns on first orders, which makes them more willing to try a new brand, while Faire takes on the risk of waiting to be paid. Brands can also invite their existing stockists through Faire Direct, and those orders carry no commission.
Faire is a great fit for makers and product brands in categories like home goods, gifts, accessories, jewelry, candles, and specialty food that want to get into boutiques without hiring a sales team. It’s less useful for low-margin products, since wholesale pricing plus commission leaves little room.
The main cost is the commission on marketplace orders from retailers Faire introduces: 15%, plus a one-time fee on a new retailer’s first order for North American brands. Brands also need wholesale pricing that works, which typically means around half of retail.
For Long Island brands, Faire Direct is a smart way to move relationships with local shops onto the platform at 0% commission, while the marketplace helps them get discovered by stores across the country.
