Accelerate Long Island is a nonprofit that helps turn research from Long Island’s leading institutions into successful startup companies. It’s a collaboration among research and academic institutions, including Brookhaven National Laboratory, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, Stony Brook University, Hofstra University, and Northwell Health, along with the business community led by the Long Island Association.
Accelerate Long Island offers early-stage funding, mentoring, events, and a network of investors and entrepreneurs. Its Accelerate Long Island Seed Fund was established with a $500,000 grant from Empire State Development, and it gives startups direct access to research labs and technology transfer offices. It also runs the Long Island Innovation Hot Spot program for qualifying startups.
Accelerate Long Island is a strong fit for researchers commercializing a technology, founders of early-stage tech, life sciences, and clean energy companies, and investors looking for opportunities coming out of Long Island’s labs.
It’s not designed for traditional small businesses like retail shops, restaurants, or service companies. Funding is competitive and aimed at companies with investment potential and strong technology.
For Long Island’s science and technology founders, Accelerate Long Island is a direct line to the region’s research, capital, and startup community.
